Create or joint to workgroup

Workgorup: A workgroup is best understood as a peer-to-peer network. That is, each computer is sustainable on its own. It has its own user list, it’s own access control and its own resources. In order for a user to access resources on another workgroup computer, that exact user must be setup on the other computer.

When you set up a network,Windows,automatically creates a workgroup and gives it a name. You can join an existing workgroup on a network or create a new one.

1. Open System by clicking the Start button , right-clicking Computer, and then clicking Properties.
2. Under Computer name, domain, and workgroup settings, click Change settings.  If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. In the System Properties dialog box, click the Computer Name tab, and then click Change.
4. In the Computer Name/Domain Changes dialog box, under Member of, click Workgroup, and then do one of the following:
   • To join an existing workgroup, type the name of the workgroup that you want to join, and then click OK.
   • To create a new workgroup, type the name of the workgroup that you want to create, and then click OK.

   If your computer was a member of a domain before you joined the workgroup, it will be removed from the domain and your computer account on that domain will be disabled.
   
   
   

   How to add my Windows 8 Professional PC to a WORKGROUP network?

   Connection to domain environment is available only for windows 8 Professional and Enterprise..
   Go to computer properties (Control Panel\System and Security\System) and click on advanced system settings..
   Then select computer name tab and click on change button..
   
   
   
   By default windows 8 is connected to workgroup called WORKGROUP . Type the workgroup name you want to connect...
   
   
   
   
   Click "ok" . ok. and "finish".. .. You will be promoted to restart... That's it...

   or after you will be "Restart" Computer.
