DVR Network/ Internet Setting
Connect the DVR to the ROUTER by using RJ45 Network cable.
Step 1:
DVR setting: Main Menu -> System Setup -> Network setting:
Just enable the DHCP function and Save. Then, reboot the system. After reboot the system, go back to network setting. Write down the internal IP address (For example, 192.168.1.100, we will use this number below as a Sample) which is assigned by your router.
Step 2: Testing Internal Network IP
- Open the Internet Explorer browser (must be 6.0 or higher).
- Go to Tools, Internet Options :
- Chose: Security
- Uncheck “enable Protected Mode” (I.E. 7 don’t have this section)
- Then, go to “Custom Level”
Ensure these security settings are ENABLE or PROMPT:
- Enable: Display video Animation on a webpage that does not use external media player
- Prompt: Download unsigned ActiveX Control
- Prompt: Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe for scripting
- then Click OK -> Apply -> OK
After that, put the IP address (for example: 192.168.1.100) in the address bar. And you will see a yellow bar stating that “Your current security settings put your computer at risk. Click here to change your security settings…..” DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS AT THIS POINT. You may do so AFTER the Active X Control is installed and you have successfully log on to your DVR remotely. So when you see below screen. Right click on the yellow bar and install the ActiveX Control. PLEASE KINDLY BE PATIENT, the installation may take longer than expected, it depending on your computer system performance.
Once the ActiveX Control is installed, the Login Screen will be displayed.
Then you can simply log on to your DVR by using the correct username and password.
Once you login successful, Go to Step 3.
Step 3: Router Setting: (You have to read your own router manual to finish the setup. We provide Linksys router setting as a Sample ONLY)
- Open the Internet Explorer and login to the router setup page. For example, 192.168.1.1 for Linksys router.
- Go to port forwarding page. You have to read your Router’s User Manual (the one come with your router) and go to the right page to change the setting.
- Internal Port and External Port is “80”, “34567” and “34599” (it is the default port number of the DVR. If you changed the setting of the DVR, put the correct port number.)
- Protocol: Set both (some model of router can only choose TCP or UDP. Pls choose TCP )
- Forward to the DVR IP (For example192.168.1.100) and enable the function.
Step 4: You have to find out your External Internet service IP’s type: Dynamic or Static IP. (Normally, Cables or DSL internet services use Dynamic IP which means that the external IP will keep changing in a period.) - If you are Static IP, You are done!
- All you need to do now is put the static IP number to Internet Explorer, then you log on to the DVR anywhere. (If you try to log on with a computer, which never log on previously, please go to step 2 and change your I.E. setting) - If you are Dynamic IP, first, you have to make sure that your router has DDNS function.
- Then go to www.dyndns.com to create a DDNS account for $30 per year
- After you created account, log in, then under my service, click Add Host Service.
- And you will see a screen like below:
